The Lone Texan Book

I love Jodi Thomas and I have almost all of her books, but I have to say that I haven't been overly impressed with the "Whispering Mountain" series. One thing I did really like about it was Drum and I was eagerly awaiting his book. Unfortunately, I felt like it was a big letdown and this was mostly because of Sage's character. She just really annoyed me. She was supposed to be 23, a fully grown adult (especially at that time), and a doctor, but she was so immature. She was constantly wanting to pick a fight with Drum and wanting to yell at him or "give him a piece of her mind" and it just got old after a while. It was like watching a couple of teenagers in the beginning stages of puppy love, when they like someone but they don't know what to do about it so they tease and bicker.

I understand how Drum might have fallen for her at first, but I don't know how he could have stayed in love with her when she was indifferent to him at best and downright hateful and dismissive at worst. It just didn't make sense. And, then, he kisses her a few times and suddenly she realizes she's in love? I just wasn't feeling it. Personally, I was more interested in Brad and Bonnie's romance, and I found myself skipping some of the Drum/Sage parts just to get back to their scenes. Sad, considering they were only a sub-plot.

Anyway, I still love Jodi, but I don't think I'll be keeping this book. It doesn't have any kind of re-read potential for me.
