The Lingerie Handbook Book

Every January, for whatever reason, I like to read something that's quite girly and generally nonfiction, and seeing as I have a great love for lingerie, this book seemed to fit the bill. It's a fairly solid little read: easy to understand, cheerful, and full of words of encouragement. Some of the advice about fit, style, and fabric were new to me, and in fact quite helpful. My main qualm with this book, which prevented me from wanting to give it a higher rating than a 3/5, is that the author (like most Americans when discussing lingerie...) was rather gauche. The self-proclaimed object of this book was to make lingerie more accessible to more women, but I fear that the voice and style used would actually alienate the average woman, especially as even I felt a certain inability to relate, and I'm the one that enjoys and feels comfortable with the topic to begin with. Nonetheless, it was a mostly fun read and I learned a thing or two, which can't be all bad. I suppose if someone liked the sort of lifestyle book that was very high-energy and very girly, they'd probably like this one.
