Shaping a Theological Mind: Theological Context and Methodology Book

This is an excellent book when one is embarking upon a PhD in Theology as I am at the moment. It is probably useful to read in early stages of any work on a dissertation like task in theology. Marks has been able to gather an impressive array of scholars from a wide variety of backgrounds. This is very helpful if one is wanting to get one's head around the issue of theological method, and also if one is thinking about what use theology might have over all. Just thinking back on the chapter, the ones that stood out for me were Meeks, Milbank, Moltmann and Farley. They managed to combine their biography (not so much biography in Milbank though) with deep theological methodological thought. But having said this all of the texts are well worth reading. My mind is a little clearer on the topic of theological method, even though I still struggle with how exactly I am going to do theology in my particular topic and PhD. But a great result of reading this book is that one comes out of it with a sense of the relevance of theology today.
