This book comes straight from the heart of The Rolling Stones. Here is their own frank account of a life on the road: performing together night after night, and defending their title as "the greatest rock n' roll band in the world."

For some thirty five years, the road has been their home away from home, the place where their particular brand of magic comes alive.

This is a book about origins and journeys---where the Stones came from and how far they have traveled---from the claustrophobic gigs of the Crawdaddy and Marquee Clubs to the stadium spectaculars of the 1990's. The adventures of a gang of London lads cooped up in a van crisscrossing the back roads of Britain contrasts with the drama of the notorious free concert at Altamont contrasts with the glamour of the Stones as icons on a grand global tour.

The book includes contributions from longtime members of the Rolling Stones entourage and is illustrated extensively with photographs selected from the Stones' archives. This is the story of a rock n' roll band doing what it knows and loves best.

The Rolling Stones: A Life on the Road. It's as good as it gets.
