Giraffes don't huff
Or hoot or howl.
They never grump,
They never growl.
They never roar,
They never riot,
They eat green leaves
And just keep quiet.
This was Karla Kuskin's first book, and it's wonderful. I've always loved Kuskin's poetry. This would be perfect to use in a storytime, where the kids could first identify the animals in question, and then make the sounds.
Or not, if it's a giraffe. The could stretch out their necks very long instead. :)
