[Strike one: Slaps and rapes the heroine on their wedding night
Strike two: He's in love with another girl Alice who happens to be the biggest bitch alive and refuses to treat Judith right.
Strike three: Hero is stupid enough to be drunk and caught in bed with Alice (a trap set up by her), heroine sees it and that causes her to lose their child.
Like, WTF????????????? After that, nothing Gavin says or does could redeem him in my eyes. Of course, I am leaving out a lot of details - smaller, minor ones where he treats Judith like shit until the end of the book. (hide spoiler)]
