Power to Reinvent Yourself: How to Break the Destructive Patterns in Your Life Book

I received this book as a first reads novel.

Frenn has a down-to-earth manner of speaking and easily includes God as an important, essential part of making healthy changes in one's life. His book has the goal of helping those who seek the Lord in their life to make the best of themselves while partnering with Heavenly Father and adopting or improving positive Christian habits (fellowship with other believers, prayer, scripture study, church attendance, etc.) If you feel that you have aspects in your life that hold you back from having a close, healthy relationship with the Lord this may be a good read for you. Frenn includes a prayer as a pattern at the end of each chapter to assist the reader in involving Heavenly Father in the process of change, as well as questions relating to each chapter at the end of the book for personal introspection or gorup discussion.

THis book also contained portions that I found distracting or detracting. I believe that some of the questions used at the end of the book deviated from the main goal of making positive Christian traditions a part of one's life, instead focusing on the past and how it messed up the reader on this path. I also felt that the author took extensive literary license with scriptural accounts of events, adding details that were impossible to know since they were not included in the Bible. The book at times feels like an infomercial, selling something to the reader. Also, at times the author inclujdes portions of his own experiences that take the focus away from what he really means for the reader to understand or notice.

This book has a good message and a good intention. Those who are seeking help will find meaningful points in these pages, even if there are some distractions.
