Playgrounds of the Gods: A Year of Sporting Fantasy
Less of a book, more of series of long magazine articles. The author fails to get in the minds of sporting gods, but succeeds in getting in the mind of a 33year journalist having to compete with giants of their field which had some merit. Mind I don't suppose the sporting giants would be able to write 500 words on their sport 10 mins after it finishes for a deranged editor. Life and work is horses for courses. The boxing article was by the best, some of the others were just travelogues..
