Basically a long pamphlet. It suffers from a curious fate that befalls so many general chronological histories - a tendency to miss the forest for the trees. The historian focuses on specifiable but utterly dull facts and statistics, such as laboring over the history of trains in New Mexico across several pages, and then tidily wrapping New Mexico's remarkable reputation as an artistic destination into a single paragraph.
