A quality book on keeping warm. It is short, sweet, and to the point. Each chapter thoroughly covers differences between synthetics and natural covering from the part closest to your skin to the tent you will be sleeping in. He also covers building a snow cave, gives an in-depth look at hypothermia and treatment, and give a thorough discussion of frostbite and the treatment thereof. The book is made a little more homey through anectdotes sprinkled here and there. The author provides a list, at the end of the book, for a typical set of layers he takes on short 1 day or overnight winter trips.
