Onions and garlic Book

This is a great story that talks about value and worth in a clever way. A merchant has three sons, and his youngest (and favorite) Getzel is a terrible salesman who never is able to make any money because of his kindness. So when he is given the chance to travel, his father gives him the cheapest good to trade'onions. Then Getzel lands at a country that has never seen onions but has so many diamonds that they have no worth. Finally, Getzel makes a good trade! The ending is witty and funny.

**I got such a kick out of this story and how it twists the idea of what's valuable on its head! I think this story would be a great story for a unit about economics for elementary school through high school because it illustrates the basic concepts so well.
