Schopenhauer takes up where Kant left off in response to Hume, and his insights into the nature of perception and understanding remain amazingly relevant and still unsurpassed.
"Our knowing consciousness, which manifests itself as outer and inner sensibility (or receptivity) and as understanding and reason, subdivides itself into subject and object and contains nothing else. To be object for the subject and to be our representation are the same thing. All our representations stand towards one another in a regulated connection, which may be determined a priori, and on account of which nothing existing separately and independently, nothing single or detached, can become an object for us. It is this connection which is expressed by the Principle of Sufficient Reason in its generality." – chapter 3, §16

به گمانم بيشتر خوانندگان اين كتاب مسير مشابهي را پيموده اند كه از مقدمه ÙŠ "جهان همچون اراده Ùˆ تصور" مي گذرد، جايي كه شوپنهاور مطالعه ÙŠ "ريشه..." را پيش نياز ضروري آغاز اثر عظيم مي داند. همان جا پيش نياز ديگر آشنايي با ÙلسÙÙ‡ ÙŠ كانت بيان مي شود كه بدون شك پيش نياز كمابيش ضروري اثر Øاضر نيز هست؛ دستكم بايد تعري٠لغتنامه اي بعضي اصطلاØات او مانند پيشيني Ùˆ پسيني يا گزاره هاي تØليلي Ùˆ تركيبي را دانست تا بعضي قسمت ها بيش از اندازه نامÙهوم نباشند.
همان طور كه مترجم Ùارسي در مقدمه ÙŠ كوتاهش اشاره مي كند خواندن كتاب آسان نيست. تيزي نكته هاي ظريÙÙŠ اين Ùˆ آنجا بر مغز آدم Ùرو مي رود، اما دنبال كردن رشته ÙŠ اصلي كتاب گاهي بسيار دشوار است. به نظرم سخت ترين بخش كتاب تكه هايي از Ùصل اول Ùˆ تكه هايي از بخش Ù‡Ùتم است آنجا كه Ù…Ùهوم اراده را معرÙÙŠ مي كند.
ترجمه روان است Ùˆ كم پيش مي آيد از خودت بپرسي اين جمله را چطور بايد بخوانم كه دستكم از نظر دستوري درست به نظر بيايد. تمركزي كه آقاي ولي ياري جوان روي شوپنهاور داشته اند خاطر آدم را نسبت به كارشان جمع مي كند. من قبل از شروع ترجمه ÙŠ Ùارسي چيزي Øدود ١٠٠صÙØÙ‡ از ترجمه ÙŠ انگليسي كتاب را خوانده بودم كه درمجموع همان دستم آمده بود كه از ترجمه ÙŠ Ùارسي.
اين جناب شوپنهاور آدم بداخلاق Ùˆ بامزه اي تشري٠داشته اند. بسياري از تكه هاي كتاب با بدوبيراه گويي به ÙيلسوÙان به نظر ايشان به دنبال ناني مثل Ù‡Ú¯Ù„ Ùˆ رÙقايش پايان مي گيرند كه اØمق Ùˆ بي شعورند. اين طور ليچارگويي، درست بعد از سطرهايي كه مبØØ« سنگيني را به بØØ« كشيده، ناگهان Ùشار را از روي Ùكر آدم برمي دارد Ùˆ به خنده اش مي اندازد.
