North Carolina: The History of a Southern State - Hugh Talmage Lefler - Hardcover - REV Book

I read Lefler & Newsome's book on North Carolina history in conjunction with William A Link's book and found that this book had more details and information about the colonial and early republic than Link's book did. Overall, I thought this was an interesting book, though sometimes I did get bogged down in facts and figures being interjected into the narrative when I think it would have been better to have represented them in charts and tables. Also, if you're looking for information on more recent North Carolina history, then you might want to refer to another book. The edition I had ended in the early/mid 70s. Overall, though, I feel much more knowledgeable in North Carolina's history after reading this book and would recommend it to someone looking for a detailed account of North Carolina's history.
