Why are the Rotten School kids screaming in terror?

Maybe it's because everyone on campus is making a horror movie!

Bernie Bridges wants to make the most terrifying film of all. If he does, he'll win a part in the famous director B.A. Gool's next film: EEK III: Revenge of the Warts.

Bernie thinks he's got some great creepy ideas. But he's better watch out on Halloween night—it's going to be a real scream!

Children's Literature

AGERANGE: Ages 8 to 12.

When the kids at Rotten School hear about a horror movie contest, their brains start oozing with ideas for their own tales of terror. Bernie B has tons to tell and teams up with his buddies Crench and Feeman. Bernie will resort to anything to make his monstrous masterpiece. He scares his girlfriend April-May right into June. He even sticks his friend in a stinky gorilla get-up. Each of Bernie's carnal scenes is carefully constructed. With the Rotten School kids crawling all over each other like spiders in a jar, anyone has a chance to win. R.L. Stine starts this book with morning announcements, which are more like mourning announcements! The hideously hilarious broadcast includes the rules of the ever popular long distance burping contest and its regulation that all contestants must stand six feet apart. Trip Park's illustrations cleverly follow the book's movie theme with horror movie poster illustrations that parody each chapter. This is an entertaining chapter book that is thankfully more humorous than horrific. Reviewer: Julie Minnich
