When I first read this book, I only had a week to digest the information. It was one of the required texts for an upper level college seminar called Politics of Memory in Modern Europe. I picked it up again 15 years later, knowing that it is academic and meaty, and I enjoyed it even more. There are few texts from school that I could sit down and enjoy in a leisure- type way, but this still proves to be a page turner.
