Make a joyful sound
I really loved the illustrations in this book especially. The poems were perfectly suited for children, especially those from a black background. At times however I felt I was looking in on something not meant for my eyes. I guess that's what I'm going to feel sometimes when I'm learning about a cultural background I have no experience with. The poems varied in subject matter and the poets varied as well. There are even small biographies of the different poets at the back of the book, making this an educational as well as creative reading experience.
