Louisiana Buildings, 1720-1940: The Historic American Buildings Survey
Faced with a newly purchased house with no window treatments, I have struggled to figure out what I want as well as what I need. While this book is not as great as I could imagine my ideal window decorating book would be, this is literally the best of at least a dozen I have gotten from the library. Most of the other books are either photo galleries or how to sew curtains and draperies. This book addresses the dos and don'ts, what you need to consider regarding heat loss, solar load, wind, window styles and how to address challenging window arrangements. If you only have time for one book I recommend this one as there is a lot of advice to consider.
