Living alphabet Book

In this delightful picture-alphabet game book for young children each consonant and vowel comes alive with its own unique qualities in the world: a cat naps on a carpet conjuring cows and conch shells, clocks and crows, cubes and columns; a girl gives grain to geese in a gated garden, watched over by giraffes and grasshoppers, gondolas and grapes, gourds and a geodesic globe; mermaids muse in the moonlight under mountains surrounded by monkeys and moose, minarets and mice, mosquitoes and a menorah.

About the Author

Famke Zonneveld was born in Dutch colonial Sulawesi (formerly Celebes) in Indonesia. She attended the Free Academy and then the Royal Academy in The Hague before taking up teaching. In the late 1960s, she became a Waldorf teacher and has been learning and teaching ever since. She lives in western Massachusetts.

The reader is challenged to find a variety of things in pictures featuring each letter of the alphabet. Includes an Afterword that discusses the philosophy of teaching at Waldorf schools.
