I loved this book! It's basically the life story of Alexandra Morton, how she came to be a killer whale (orca) researcher, the difficult life of living in the wild on the British Columbia coast, and the environmental concerns as fish farms and forestry services began to invade the area.
Really this book is so much more than just about whale research.
Reading this inspired me in a different kind of way than when reading Jane Goodall's books because different environmental nightmares are brought to light here.
I learned so much from this book; much being about the horrors of fish farming in the archipeligo, and how it has done so much damage to the local fish, coastline, seals, whales, and more. I already knew it was better to buy wild caught salmon and other fish, but reading about the fish farms makes me want to NEVER eat farm raised salmon, EVER! And what's scary is the fact that so often, we aren't sure where our food is coming from.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves wildlife and/or cares at all about our impact on the environment.
