Lectio Divina, Latin for divine reading, is a series of Bible studies that calls Christians to slow down, read Scripture, meditate on it, and prayerfully respond as they "listen to God" through His Word. After years of following Christ, after years of spreading the Word and making disciples, Peter had earned a hearing, and he had a few things to say to the clusters of believers scattered across the provinces of Asia Minor via the persecutions of Nero. Peter's charge to the scattered, first-century church - written in light of Jesus' eminent return and his own impending martyrdom - rings ever so loudly today, "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen." (2 Peter 3:18)
