Kisses of Encouragement: Heartwarming Messages that Encourage and Inspire Book

As a non-specialist of Chrysostom, I was a little disappointed that such a large portion of the book was devoted to what essentially was a recapitulation of a series of homilies, highlighting the rhetorical structure and technique of each. Again, for a non-specialist it started to feel redundant. Someone primarily interested in the epideictic art of ancient Christian homilies would probably love this book, but for everyone else, it seems to lack something.

I would have liked to see more background and context for the person and his rhetorical art'social, political, theological, etc.'I guess more of an introduction to Chrysostom and his obsession with Paul. Later chapters began to address some questions that arose in my mind as I read, such as the theological question of the person of Christ in the framework of someone who so frequently makes pretty exalted claims for Paul, but it felt a little bit like an afterthought.
