The purpose of this book is to pass on details of the work of developers and researchers in the field of Local Communications Systems Management. The term Local Communications Systems' was chosen so as to allow as wide a subject base as possible, and hence not preclude work which may have been taking place on the management of, for example, PABX systems. As a result, the papers cover many aspects of the subject, including LANs, ISDNs and distributed systems management.
