Council of Europe modern languages project The most important papers from the Council of Europe project on a unit/credit system for modern language learning by adults, now the Modern Language Project, were originally compiled in Strasbourg for internal distribution within the Member States and the group of experts working on the project. But they aroused such interest amongst language teachers, learners and planners throughout the world, and have already exerted such an influence that it has been decided to make them available to a wider readership by having them issued by leading publishers in Great Britain, France and the German Federal Republic.
