I really liked this book. It is a collection of oral histories. Some guy took a tape recorder and recorded a bunch of old timers who used to ranch on the land that is now Canyonlands National Park.
It was very interesting. At first, I was kind of disappointed because there wasn't a story line, a protagonist or anything. Yet, it was just so danged interesting that I couldn't stop reading.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who has ever looked out at the desert and wondered what it would be like to live and work in that harsh climate.
I'd also recommend it to anyone who has ever thought that maybe it would be cool to write a western novel.
