Glorie is a widow in her 80's, living alone, cared for by her loving daughter and family. Determined to maintain her independence, Glorie is feisty, sweet, opinionated, darling! Throughout the novel, Glorie thinks back on her childhood, and especially on her life with her beloved husband Jack.
Written with humor and empathy, the story really is touching and dear. I empathized with Glorie and fully understood her determination to maintain her independence and to live life on her own terms. I was touched by the deep love between Glorie and Jack, and appreciated the way she clung to his memory after he died. The story reveals with poignancy and gentle humor the mind of an aging woman dealing with mortality and the indignities of old age. A wonderful, realistic portrait of a feisty charming woman.
