Fit to Be a Pastor: A Guide to Personal and Professional Fitness Book

Rediger is a counselor to pastors in the American mainstream vein of Christianity, which is, generally speaking, a liberal section of the population theologically. He combines stories of pastors' experiences with a wide variety of outside references to promote a balance between body, mind, and spirit in the lives of pastors (and presumably all Christians). His insistence that negligence of one or more of these (body-mind-spirit) will be detrimental not only to a pastor's ministry to his congregation, but also to his own personal development, is encouraging. However, his theology is muddled by his inclusion of modern psychological conclusions and non-Christian spiritual principles on the same level as Christian tradition and Scriptural teaching. As a survey, I don't mind that so much, but it isn't very useful for my purposes, namely, to delve deeply into a Scriptural and Patristic theology of the body that applies directly to physical conditioning in the lives of modern believers in Jesus Christ.
