Simple text and photographs present some of the many ways bread is made and eaten around the world.
Everyone eats bread, especially children. People in different parts of the world eat different kinds of bread. They make bread in different ways and in different shapes. Despite these differences, bread is universally enjoyed. The text simply describes bread but the photographs show culturally-diverse children happily eating varieties of bread. The underlying message is that people are as different as the bread that they eat, yet we all share common bonds. This book is intended for beginning readers. The text is large and there are only one to two sentences on each page. The bright photographs that are on each page supplement the text. This book would enhance any primary schools Social Studies curriculum. It is part of the "Yellow Umbrella Books for Early Readers Level ASocial Studies" series. 2005, Yellow Umbrella Books, Ages 4 to 8.
