Encyclopaedia of Mathematics, Vol. 2 Book

This is the first Supplementary volume to Kluwer's highly acclaimed Encyclopaedia of Mathematics. This additional volume contains nearly 600 new entries written by experts and covers developments and topics not included in the already published 10-volume set. These entries have been arranged alphabetically throughout. A detailed index is included in the book.
This Supplementary volume enhances the existing 10-volume set. Together, these eleven volumes represent the most authoritative, comprehensive up-to-date Encyclopaedia of Mathematics available.

**** An unabridged reprint of the original ten-volume hardbound edition published between 1988 and 1994 (and cited in the Supplement to Sheehy), itself an updated and annotated translation of the Soviet Mathematical Encyclopedia published by Soviet Encyclopedia Publishing House between 1977 and 1985. The articles are of three kinds: accessible, survey-type articles that deal with the various main directions in mathematics; more expert-oriented, medium-length articles that contain more detailed, concrete problems, results, and techniques; and short (reference) definitions. Most articles were specially written for the Soviet encyclopedia, and practically all contain a list of references.
