Dignity beyond Death: The Jewish Preparation for Burial
The concept is cool and I actually really liked her writing style but she just. Kept. Going. On. Tangents. It's supposed to be about Falasha music and stuff and yet AT LEAST half the book (which is only like 160 pages) is about her meeting a guy and dating him and meeting his family and getting married to him and moving and stuff. Like, ok, cool, but where's the content of the book I wanted (and needed, bc this was for a class). Even when she was talking about music, 80% of the time it felt very surface level and vague, like she was assuming we knew a lot of stuff and just peppered in comments? There was a good ten pages near the end where she had a cool discovery, but other than that...Yeet. Took me way too long for such a short book.
