A bestseller in the Netherlands that's soon to be published in seven countries, Dancing with the Enemy tells the gripping story of the author's aunt, a Dutch dance instructor who charmed her way through Auschwitz by teaching dance and etiquette lessons to the SS, and of the author's subsequent discovery of his Jewish roots.

Raised in a devout Roman Catholic family in the Netherlands, Paul Glaser was shocked to learn as an adult of his father's Jewish heritage. Grappling with his newfound identity, Glaser set out to discover what happened to his family during WWII and what caused the deep rift between his father and his estranged Aunt Rosie, who moved to Sweden after the war.

Rosie Glaser was a Dutch Jew who toured Western Europe teaching dance to high acclaim. Vivacious, unconventional, and enterprising, she actively sought romantic adventure, falling in love hard and often. By the age of 25, she had lost the great love of her life in a flying accident, sought consolation in the arms of another, and married the wrong man. Then the Nazis seized power. For Rosie, a non-practicing Jew, this marked the beginning of an extremely dangerous adventure. Betrayed by both her ex-husband and her lover, Rosie was taken prisoner by the SS and sent to a series of concentration camps. But her enemies were unable to destroy her and she remarkably survived, in part by teaching dance and etiquette lessons to her captors. Piecing together his family's secret history, Rosie's nephew uncovers an extraordinary life marked by love, betrayal, and fierce determination. The book includes over 90 photos of Rosie taken before, during, and after the war.
