Hanns Zischler bietet mit diesem Buch eine spannende, außergewöhnliche Perspektive auf Kafkas Leben und Werk - es war sehr interessant zu lesen, welchen Einfluss das Kino auf Kafka hatte und welche Filme sein Schreiben beeinflusst haben.
Das Buch ist sehr informationsreich, aber leider ein bisschen unstrukturiert. Jedes Kapitel beginnt mit einer zeitlichen Einordnung und damit, was gerade in Kafkas Leben passiert ist und welche Filme er gesehen hat, doch dann entgleist es ein wenig und ich persönlich sehe teilweise weder den Bezug zu Kafka noch zum Film. Gerade daran merkt man jedoch, wie gut der Autor recherchiert hat und wie viel Zeit und Mühen in dieses Buch geflossen sind.
Besonders gut haben mir die abgedruckten Postkarten Kafkas an seine Freunde Max und Otto Brod gefallen. Seine Handschrift ist relativ schwierig zu entziffern, aber solche Dinge treiben mir immer Tränen in die Augen.
Ich empfehle, die neue Auflage von 2017 zu lesen - diese ist nicht nur äußerlich ansprechender als die erste Auflage von 1996, sie beinhaltet auch eine DVD mit eben den Filmen, die Kafka damals gesehen hat.
