Creating Documents with BusinessObjects was designed with one idea in mind - to help people create and work with documents and reports using the Business Objects Reporter. This means that all 540+ pages contain explanations, illustrations, examples, and/or tips that will help help you to work with Business Objects documents. There are no distracting topics on any other Business Objects module.
The new edition of Creating Documents with BusinessObjects is based on our two previous versions for 4.1 and 5.1, which thousands of readers have found helpful. However, this new version contains many more examples that illustrate how to perform tasks in BusinessObjects. There are even two extra indexes to help you locate procedures and examples quickly.
The new edition now contains over 1,000 screenshots and many step-by-step examples that help readers to become confident at using Business Objects. One of the book's strongest appeals is that it not only describes the basics of using the product, but it also tries to describe what can go wrong. The author has done this, because he feels that many books and courses just give the basic procedures and leave it up to readers to figure out any complications that might occur. This book is also compelling because it thoroughly describes how to use formulas in a report to achieve simple and complex calculations. It explains how to use the Where and Context operators, If-Then-Else logic and almost every function available in Business Objects.
About the Author:
Robert Schmidt has written several books and training manuals on how to use Business Objects. He was the first to write a book on the first scripting language for Business Objects. This book was used by Business Objects to train both internal company employees and their customers.
Thousands of Business Objects analysts have used Mr. Schmidt's books on Business Objects since 1998, when he wrote his first book – Creating Documents with BusinessObjects 4.1. Since that time, he has spoken with many readers and incorporated their feedback into the latest edition of Creating Documents with BusinessObjects.
In addition to writing books and training manuals, Robert also trains and consults. He has trained thousands of people to use Business Objects. Many of these people have gone on to become power users of the product and have ended up supporting their entire department. Robert has consulted at many fortune 100 companies and continues to consult and mentor at companies throughout the United States.
Mr. Schmidt's motivation for writing books, training and mentoring is to empower all users of Business Objects with certain knowledge and skills that should allow them to become better Business Objects document designers. He has often stated that his books are better than aspirin and they get you home faster.
