Comprises a critical review of aesthetic theories related to musical meaning, above all those by Meyer, Langer or Schopenhauer... generally it just negates them and doesn't bring much of any new solution to the discourse. But for getting the general picture of the topic it is definitely good reading and quite easy-to-get for a casual reader without deep knowledge of the philosophy and arts theory
