Come Along, Kitten by Joanne Ryder, illustrated by Susan Winter follows a kitten exploring its world as it is watched over by a old dog.
Winter's illustrations are rendered in watercolor and colored pencil and focus on the kitten, other animals and the gentle dog. My favorite images are fence, mice songs, hidey-hole, leaf, on branch, and home.
This is a cute look at very appealing kitten exploring its world. The large font and rhymes make this a choice as a beginning reader. The illustrations are the most appealing part of the book. 3 stars.
