Civilizing American Cities: Writings on City Landscapes Book

I wrote a review for this to be published on Nonfiction4Life so I will refrain from speaking too much about this book, but I will say Frederick Law Olmsted, the "father of landscape architecture," was not only largely responsible for the design and look of New York City's Central Park, but also an exceptionally skilled writer and commentator on nineteenth-century American life. His writings are enjoyable for those interested in American cities as they were and as they became thanks to the public parks movement of the Progressive Era, but rooted in ideals of British garden cities.
