Are You a Mind Slave?

We suppose we know how to think.

We believe we are objective.

We even imagine that we are the masters of our minds.

Do we overestimate ourselves?

Beyond Mental Slavery looks at many of the ways our minds control us--how the various reactive programs and biases hidden in there become our masters, determining our subsequent thoughts and the actions. The good news is that there are ways to become aware of the limitations inherent in our ordinary thinking, and ways to get past them. There are steps we can take to escape the rule of the reactive mind; to gain a new intellectual and personal freedom.

Each of the ten chapters takes a hard look at one of the primary ways in which we can become trapped in limited thought processes. This is followed by "escape plans," which suggest specific steps to take to break free and think more clearly. The promise is not only a more powerful mind, but one that is more useful and under control.

Some of the chapter titles...

The Worship of Reason
The Language Trap
Ego Masquerading as Self
The Lie of Authority
Conformity and Cultural Conditioning
How Fear Poisons Thinking
