AS OF NOW: POETRY & PROSE FROM LEXINGTON HIGH SCHOOL SOPHOMORES CLASS OF 2005 Book

As of Now is the second book of student poetry and prose from Lexington High School's Student Publishing Program, which has been selected as one of the top high school writing programs in the U.S. by Web del Sol, the largest nonprofit publisher of contemporary periodicals. The pieces range from snapshots of time spent in our own unique locality to ruminations of world events, from reflections on coping with life's pressures to the significance of love and friendship. They offer a colorful glimpse into both the unique and the collective sense of the young men and women who comprise Lexington High School's graduating class of 2005.

The Student Publishing Program (SPP) is a national creative writing program which gives secondary students the writing skills and confidence needed to be published, and then secures the professional publication of their compositions. One hundred percent of royalties from each school's book sales help fund future program participation for that school's students. SPP supports language arts standards and benchmarks and helps students at all learning levels demonstrate their academic merit-to themselves and to the community-at-large-beyond grades and standardized test scores.
