Art and Writing in the Maya Cities, A.D. 600-800: A Poetics of Line
Another book about South Dakota history and the people of South Dakota, the Lakota Sioux. Wonderfully informative and painful to read of the broken treaties and promises along the way for the Indian communities. The Rushmore shrine itself has a different image in my mind after reading about the artist, G. Borglum, who carved the presidents into the stone. He was a white supremisist and member of the KKK which added to the picture. Hard to look at this shrine now without some distaste in my mind.
