Collected in this portfolio are images from a career spanning more than 70 years-portraits, still-lifes, nude distortions, and photo-reportage-created in a style without pretension, using small format cameras almost exclusively. Kertesz was never much interested in documentary photography. He consistently captured the telling moment and the overlooked but expressive details of his subjects.

It's no doubt that André Kertész was well ahead of his time - the mere fact that he consistently created work in his own style right from the start, but was only properly recognised in the later period of his life speaks to this.
His portraits are wonderful; especially the distorted series that were all achieved before the invention of Photoshop techniques. Even his landscapes and cityscapes manage to get out of the realm of predictability that so many of their counterparts get stuck in. His photograph of the Eiffel Tower presented in this book is one such testament to how masterful Kertész was at following his own style.
