This book offers a good historical perspective on the Beatles. How were they formed? Who discovered the band? Who was the fifth Beatle? The book covers their careers from the early days before they actually formed the Beatles to the remaining members currently alive and performing. John, Paul, George, and Ringo are seen as individuals, not just members of one of the world’s most famous bands.
The author does a nice job of emphasizing the role society played in making them into the icons they are today. Their influence on culture and the music industry is discussed in depth. Interspersed with the research are great photos of the band members and the group throughout their long history, in addition to newspaper articles featuring the Beatles over the years. This book would be a good addition for a collection on music or for use in a biographical section. The layout is user friendly, and the information is appropriate for grades 7-12.
