Herbert Brooks Hatch, Jr. is one of America's living Fighter Pilot Aces from World War II. Hatch flew with the 71st Fighter Squandron, 1st Fighter Group, of the Army Air Force, out of Salsola, Italy. Except for a brief deployment to Corsica to cover the invasion of Southern France, he flew his fifty-nine missions out of Foggia #3. He holds the Distinguished Service Cross, the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 11 Oak Leaf Clusters. After the war, he spent his business career as an automobile dealer in Northern California, where he and his wife, Amy, raised their three children. Now retired, Hatch lives in LaConnor, Washington, where he enjoys reading and teaching "the art of golf." This is his first book.
