Dr. Yan's theory connecting Blood Stasis to senility and aging is a worthy read. The supporting arguments presented in this translation are helpful in understanding the relationship between blood and qi and how dysfunctions of this mechanism can lead to an underlying condition of blood stasis. Dr. Yan avers that it is this stasis that is the root of senility and age-related disorders (as opposed to an underlying vacuity). The formulary provides an entry into how to think about treating conditions of blood stasis as well as a model in how this theory can be applied clinically.
