Cox (1870-1957) was a journalist and newspaper editor, a representative to the US Congress from Ohio, governor of that state during World War I, and a Democratic candidate for US president in 1920. Among the events and people he recalls in his memoir are the Wright brothers, prison reform, the Ohio floods of 1913, the war, the conspiracy that defeated the League of Nations and led to Woodrow Wilson's death, and The New Deal.
