Loeb, Harvard University Towards this goal, the author of "Concepts and Images" has for more than twenty years presented his seminar workshop for visual mathematics at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts. He has inspired his students to experiment with particular patterns, leading inductively to more general fundamental principles, then to an understanding and appreciation of the concept of "design science" and thence to freedom from the visual illiteracy that affects our man-made environment and its relation to our natural ecology.
