Your Purr-Fect Birthday (Choose Your Own Adventure Series) Book

The return of the brilliant Choose YOur Own Adventure series couldn't be more disappointing. It had suich amazing potential here. This book (like some of the other new ones) is geared toward an even younger age than the originals....therefore death is completely off the table for endings. However that aside they can still keep things exciting and mysterious and fun. And at certain points they do. But there is SO much filler. The "theme" of this book is cats and ancient egypt. A good start. Your cat takes you on a journey back there. And there is plenty of things about AE to delve into...but they don't . When they do it kind of leaves you hanging and drops it immediately. There are a couple exciting chase scenes...and a world ruled by cats...and your cat becomes your king and you his servant...all neat ideas and keeping with the original series...even the drawings are fun, especially your main cat. But the endings are all bad....not enough magic or suspense or wonder. They happen too fast. Maybe in an attempt to make things quicker for younger readers. But I think the real problem is a lot of them don't even keep to the theme. One of the branches jumps you into a time machine and you leave the egypt theme completely in things like The declaration of independence, the UN, the big bang. There really could have been more done here with the main purpose that just got dropped. But it's really kinda boring on the verge of being exciting.
