E poderia estar sonhando entre as rosas vermelhas, mas na verdade estou bem desperta, como o leitor de Notebook of Roses and Civilization de Nicole Brossard. Uma poesia contundente, que explora as inquietações femininas de uma maneira singular, fazendo pensar sobre como as mulheres estabelecem um lugar para si no mundo. Passear no jardim, com Nicole Brossard, é uma experiência que remete a um passado arcaico:

Mas ficar sentada no sofá não parece mais confortável:

Nicole Brossard também fala no sagrado feminino, não diretamente, mas menciona essa questão no poema Smooth Horizon of the Verb Love, onde a deusa é aquela que coloca as palavras na boca do poeta:
