Henkin was the first to see it. On the big, white double door of the parking lot entrance to the Beiwyn Jewish Center was a three-foot square, ugly, spray-painted black swastika! Rabbi Rosen called the local police.
Robert, oldest of the Lazarus children, soon had his own theory. Terry Lazarus wondered why Ms. Feingold, her teacher, was so set against printing anything about anti-Semitism in the Belwyn High BlasL Jeff, the youngest Lazarus, was angry and looking for revenge. For Henkin, the mystery brought back some painful memories, and the children began to wonder, did he see a Nazi behind every bush?
Rabbi Rosen lends a hand as the Lazarus family moves closer and closer to a solution for the mystery.
The Swastika on the Synagogue Door is a great read. I found it difficult to put down.
