Cultural History of Animals in the Age of Enlightenment
I know this is a book meant for children/young adolescents, but I really liked it. It was, due to intended audience, an incredibly easy read. It was also very helpful as a toe-in-the-pool resource; it gave me a basic introduction to diseases that I may want to look further into, and which ones I am not so interested in.
