The Big Book of Cakes & Cookies: 365 Much-Loved Classics and New Favorites
The Birthday Cake contains great photographs and some novel ideas. There are some cakes that I would really like to try making, and some recipes really seem to lend themselves to certain family members. One aspect that I felt made this book realy stand out from other cake cook/decorating books is its little use of fondant. Personally, I am not a fan of fondant and believe that beautiful cakes should taste even better than they look.
A doll cake is featured in this book and it is admittedly the prettiest one I could find in a book or the internet. Also, the Confectioner's Sugar Frosting was delicious!
