Little Red Hen and the Ear of Wheat Book

The version of this story that I grew up with ended with the Little Red Hen eating her bread and everyone else looking kind of sad. This version takes it further and really drives the lesson home. I'm not sure I care for the approach, preferring maybe to draw my own conclusions of what comes next. I always felt the original left room for discussion with your child, so you can play out the different scenarios rather than being told how it should happen next time around.

To me this book was heavy-handed in this regard and that spoiled the story for me. It's ok...the illustrations are bright and interesting. The story is told in familiar language, but the ending knocks the rating down at least for me.
